Leaving Sierra Leone
I’m so heartbroken that I’m leaving Sweet Salone even though I’m happy to be reuniting with my family in Atlanta. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with the World Health Organization and to serve the people of Sierra Leone.
It has been one of my biggest blessings in life to be with my Dad the last two years of his life. I am forever grateful to God for this blessing. I am still reeling from his loss nearly two months ago but ever so thankful that I was able to return home and have this time with him.
Thank you to my amazing colleague doctors, midwives, nurses, epidemiologists, and administrators at the WHO country office, the Ministry of Health, and the hospitals and clinics in Sierra Leone. It has been my privilege to work and serve with all of you. This is not goodbye, it is see you later, as I plan to continue working to improve maternal health and reduce maternal mortality in Sierra Leone. I will no longer be in Sierra Leone full-time, but will make multiple trips from Atlanta and will continue working on projects remotely.
